Colleagues Connect Through Mentor Program
The SUNYCUADMentor Program is now at record participation with more than 30 mentors/mentees communicating and meeting on a regular basis. This free service to our members gives those new to the field an opportunity to learn from more seasoned professionals and also allows those with considerable experience to learn new skills.
The main goal of the program is to foster an increase in professional dialogue between organization members and to encourage growth within the SUNY system. For more than a year, mentors have been sharing tips and best practices advice with mentees. Many of those in the program connect via e-mail and phone, but a number have also exchanged campus visits.
The program links prospective mentors with five or more years of experience with mentees. It requires a minimum of a one-year commitment by both parties and a suggested goal of several “contacts” (e-mail, phone call, or in-person meeting) annually.
Participants may adjust their level of participation around their own schedules and work commitments. Have you thought about getting on the fast track toward a promotion? Are you interested in speaking to a colleague about best practices in your field?Would you like to discuss information on innovations in your field? Are you open to sharing your expertise with a professional who is new to your field? If so, become a part of this program. It’s easy to get started. Find more details at www.sunycuad.org/mentoring_program or contact the program coordinator, Vanessa J.
