Buffalo State College Wins Accolades

Buffalo State won five CASE Accolade Awards (D-II). The College Relations Office placed Gold in three categories: Web site/magazine (the Bulletin), Visual Design (mechanical engineering program T-shirt), and Creativity on a Shoestring (president’s invitations). It placed Bronze in Webcast/Podcast/CD/DVD Features (podcasts).An Honorable Mention was received for the college’s undergraduate viewbook.

Corning Community College Awards Inaugural Scholarship

Corning Community College (CCC) partnered with Keuka College’s Accelerated Studies for Adults Program (ASAP) to present the inaugural Joint Presidential Scholarship to Debbie Stayer Kelly, executive assistant to the president at CCC. The scholarship will provide Kelly with an expense-paid scholarship to pursue a master’s degree in management through ASAP.

Kelly is a 2000 graduate of Cornell University and a 1991 graduate of Corning Community College. Her employment at CCC began in January 2002 as the director of marketing and public relations. In July 2006, she was appointed as the executive assistant to the president. Kelly maintains a 4.0 grade point average in the program and is slated to graduate in May.

The scholarship, provided by Keuka College, allows a full-time CCC employee to pursue an ASAP degree. Joseph G. Burke, president of Keuka College, and Floyd Amann, president of CCC, presented the scholarship to Debbie Kelly on August 24, 2007.

Monroe Community College Wins Award

The National Council for Marketing & Public Relations, District I, awarded the following Medallion Awards to Monroe Community College’s Marketing Communications Department:

Gold Medallion –Outdoor Advertising, for the MCC Truck Graphics
Silver Medallion – Booklet, for the for the Interactive “Decoder” direct mail package to High School Students
Bronze Medallion—Brochure/Flyer Category, Adult Information Session Brochure: “Going Back to College, What You Need to Know”

The National Council for Marketing & Public Relations is a national organization that exclusively represents marketing and PR professionals at community and technical colleges. As one of the fastest-growing affiliates of the American Association of Community Colleges, NCMPR today has more than 1,500 members from nearly 600 colleges across the United States, Canada and other countries.

Onondaga Receives Trustee Award and National Recognition

The Public Affairs staff at Onondaga Community College was chosen to receive a 2007 Trustee Award by the college’s board of trustees.

Onondaga Community College was recently named one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the nation by Community College Week. For the second consecutive year, Onondaga reported record enrollment for the fall semester with nearly 10,500 students.
