2008 Conference Information

Arrival
Depending on your arrival time you may choose to go directly to your hotel. Check-in is not available until 3:00 pm, however all the hotels will store your luggage. You can then proceed to FIT for the afternoon activities and return to your hotel to check-in during the 5:30-6:30 pm break. If you choose instead to come directly to FIT, your luggage can be stored on campus and you can take it with you when you go to your hotel at 5:30 pm. Click here for Directions and Map.
Conference Location
The conference programming and meals will take place at the Fashion Institute of Technology in the Chelsea area of Manhattan. The FIT campus comprises a city block between Seventh and Eighth Avenues and 27th and 28th Streets. Please enter the campus through The Conference Center at FIT on 28th Street just west of Seventh Avenue. Registration is in the John E. Reeves Great Hall located just inside the conference center.

Conference Location

Accommodations
Conference accommodations will be at three hotels within walking distance of FIT. All hotels will be assigned when you register. Requests for a specific hotel cannot be accommodated. However, if colleagues from one institution would like to stay at the same hotel, it is recommended that they submit their registration forms at the same time and we will try to place you at the same location. After your registration is processed, you will receive a confirmation via email with your assignment at one of the following hotels.

The New Yorker Hotel
481 Eighth Avenue corner of 8th Avenue
All hotels have business centers with internet connections and printers. They all feature fitness centers. Check-in is at 3:00 and check-out is at 11:00 at all three properties. A personal credit card will be required upon check-in at all properties to cover the cost of personal incidentals such as in-room movies, room service, or additional nights.

Entertainment Options
A wonderful selection of activities have been organized for conference participants on Thursday evening, including a Harlem Jazz Tour, tickets to a Broadway show, and a Chinatown banquet.
NOTE: If you have already signed up for the conference but didn't select an entertainment option, you can still join your colleagues in a night out on the town. Click here for the entertainment form.
All activities are pay-your-own-way and for those that require pre-payment, you must submit a personal check with your entertainment registration. For non-prepaid activities you must make a reservation now and then pay that night. Please see the Entertainment Options portion of the conference registration form for details.
