21st Century Marketing: Social Media and Digital Strategy for Higher Education
October 30, 2008

Onondaga Community College, Syracuse
Whitney Applied Technology Building

Program Description:
The digital revolution has clearly changed the face of communication and marketing as we know it, from the changing nature of the print media to the rising influence of Web 2.0 and social media. Higher education marketing, public relations, recruitment, and advancement professionals now face a dizzying array of technological challenges and opportunities: the Millennial generation is making its mark, social networks like MySpace and Facebook are creating significant social and cultural transformations, Boomers and seniors have emerged as major users of the Web, and the sheer volume of emerging channels is staggering, from search to webcasts to mobile platforms. At what point should your recruiting, marketing, and advancement efforts embrace the brave new world of social media?  What is a truly viable digital marketing strategy for those charged with promoting their institutions and communicating with key constituents?  This workshop analyzes and explores the essential tools of 21st century digital marketing and what you need to know to thrive in the brave new world of social media.
